A resource for ship names, at least.

I purchased the book The Lore of Ships off of Ebay. It has a lot of good illustrations showing the different parts of ships, the ropes, fish, carpenter's tools, etc. It covers all types of ships from old to modern. I think it's worth getting ahold of if you are interested in ships ( Read more... )

Text-Book of Seamanship, an updated age of sail textbook from 1891. I'm sure it's not all applicable to 18th century, but the basics of sailing probably didn't change.
