Okay, so I'm *supposed* to be back in Shutesbury today packing up the last of my things. Because, you know, someone new is moving in tomorrow and I said I'd have everything (with the exception of my furniture, Virginie said it's okay if my cousin picks it up next weekend) out by then ( Read more... )

Oh my fucking soul, I am so so so sorry. I'm glad Avocado is okay now, but holy... I know how incredibly distressing it is. Jesus.

I just hope you're okay and just remember that he is okay now and he will be okay with a short tail. I'm sure he's still adorable.

Take care of you. xoxox.

Holy crap, I go away and all hell breaks loose.
Aw poor Avocado. I'm glad he's ok considering what had to be done.

I googled...and found an article where a woman actually contemplated NOT bringing her cat to the vet to get the tail amputated. This was the response:
If the degloving happened very far upon the tailor she has to have
more than half of her tail removed (to save her life, mind you), kitty
will barely notice the difference. She will take a few days to adjust
to the new length, but, unlike humans, will not feel "handicapped" or
in any way "deformed" by the incidence. All animals, well the 4-legged
varieties, live in the moment. After the short period of adjustment
kitty will be her old self, with and up-beat new look.

So Avocado is very lucky that you did what's best for him...

Um, I threw it out. My mom was absolutely disgusted. I was like, "It's just his skin and fur! You're petting the rest of it RIGHT NOW!" I don't think that helped matters.
