So the other day I bought three bunches of spinach for £1, and I've been eating spinach for the past few days. This led me to remember how in the US, spinach is constructed as 'the nasty vegetable that every kid hates'. I can't remember a vegetable being accorded similar status in China (though who knows, maybe in recent times one has earned that ~glory~). So flist, question!
What's the 'nasty vegetable that every kid hates' in your culture/region/family/etc.? :D Or what vegetable(s) do you really dislike? I am super curious!
(I think the only vegetable that I refuse to eat is celery. It smells off to me, and being a supertaster, well...And yeah yeah, supertasters as a whole don't like spinach, and it's certainly not my favourite ever, but there's worse out there for me...Like brussels sprouts, omg, they are so bitter they make me weep. DDDDD:)

Okay, those of you on my flist who are asexual - you've all heard me talk about my MA dissertation before.
Here is the survey for it, in which I tease out your attitudes about romance and friendship and the like. :P At least three of you told me you would help me out, so please! <33333 (Also I am so sorry that it's really really really really long. :(( But you will have my undying gratitude if you give me your data. <333)
(Also if you aren't asexual please don't fill it out. :P ilu all but your answers are irrelevant to my research :P)

Also that 30 Days of Music meme. :p
Day 01 - Your favourite song
This piece (墨明棋妙's 二十二桥枫别雨) is pretty much everything I love about traditional Chinese music. It's got the simple elegance of the zheng and the call of one of the flutes (I can't tell if it's the di or the xiao, orz) completely down, imo, and I tend to put it on repeat if I'm trying to write something ~*srs bsns*~. I love classical Chinese music, but most 'fusion' done with classical instruments are a little too ~*New Age*~ for me (see Twelve Girls Band). This piece preserves the beauty and elegance of classical music while subtly 'modernising' it to make it more palatable for a wider audience.
