The apartment building was getting rather cramped; a week ago Caesar had been able to navigate the corridors without any trouble at all, but now he had to pull his wings right in to prevent them from scraping the walls. He wanted to get to his room so that he could rest without being prodded by passersby, but now there was a shouting boy in the way.

"That is my room, not yours," Caesar told him, glaring. He paused, and then added, "It is not well-furnished at all and I should prefer something much finer, but all of this city seems terribly dirty to me."

Damian's hand automatically went for his sword, but the sheath he wore on his back wasn't there. Finally a chance to kill a real dragon and he wasn't even armed! He took a fighting stance. "Don't touch me, beast! I'll defeat you barehanded if I must!"

Caesar tilted his head suspiciously, not apparently intimidated by the threat. "You are only a boy," he pointed out, "but I do not want to fight you anyway, only to go to my room, and you are in the way."

"It's NOT your room. It's MINE," Damian said, holding up the key he'd been given. "If you won't fight me, you coward, then go away!" He didn't want to fight a dragon without his sword, but it was insulting to be dismissed as though he were a mere child.

"Go ahead, scream." There's a chuckle. "No one will listen."

It's Azula. And she finds this funny.

"You did," Damian scowled. "Do you live in this cesspit?"

"Un fortunately." She casually brings forth a blue flame, then puts it out, then repeats the process, looking bored. "Though I don't plan on it being a long-term deal, that's for certain."

Damian took note of the flames - some kind of meta - but kept his face in a scowl. Which wasn't difficult since he was feeling very, very scowly. "Why don't you just leave?"

Climbing the stairs two at a time, Tim came up from the third floor (that's how loud Damian had been) to see who was shouting. It would probably be tiresome to deal with them, like it was tiresome to deal with the dragon and the Iron Man suit, but the rewards involved might be worth it. He pushed open the stairwell door and — okay, wow. He clearly should not let them hurt each other, but he was a little jaded about the efficacy of jumping between them. On the one hand, the Iron Man suit would be upset in Caesar were injured; on the other hand, surely it didn't expect him to protect a dragon. And he probably shouldn't let Caesar injure or, god, devour a young boy, no matter how bratty they were... sigh. Was he going to have to say something? He was probably going to have to say something.

The boy, Caesar was realising, could fight very well, and this was really not fair at all. He had just been sent into an ungainly sprawl by Damian's kick, one wing pressed at an uncomfortable angle against the wall. Scrabbling gracelessly to his feet, he snorted his anger through a bloodied nostril, digging his claws into the floor, and didn't notice the door opening further down the corridor.

mind if the suit butts in? it has a vested interest in this sustain_life August 22 2010, 00:55:52 UTC
Iron Man had noticed the commotion once it returned to the building, and had wasted no time going to Ceasar's room to determine the source of the commotion. It detected that Tom was already there, and that there was a young, unknown human male in the room with Ceasar.

One who was apparently giving Ceasar trouble in a fight.

go for it! bat_spawn August 22 2010, 01:09:35 UTC
Damian braced himself in a defensive stance and yelled, "COME AND GET ME, YOU OVERGROWN LIZARD!" He noted that they'd gained an audience - though he didn't get a good look at the young man's face - but he really didn't care who saw.

In the stairwell, all Tim said was, "It's 'Tom Draper' here, not Drake." And he didn't sound pissed or impatient. In fact, there was a sort of impersonal air to the way he was treating Damian, like the younger boy was someone he was showing around the office — necessarily polite, a little wary, a little watchful, but no deeper emotions attached.

Damian watched him suspiciously, not yet sure what he was up to. "How long have you been here, Draper?"

"Almost four months." Tim watched Damian back, moving down the stairs at a quick pace. "You're familiar with the multiverse concept, right?"

"-TT- Of course I am," Damian said. "Are you trying to say you're a different Tim Drake?"
