It definitely said something about Daisy's capabilities that she was one of the few people to calm and, to a degree, control, a god. Alex had only been here maybe half a day before she showed up, but it was noticeable how much he relaxed with her here. He might have been a god and more mature than most people older than him, but he was still just an eighteen-year-old boy who needed a support

Dedication. There was a huge, disturbing lack of people out there who still understood the meaning of it. There wasn't much in the way of people left in the world who understood or had experienced what it meant to be loyal to something, to have a core value that drove the way they led their life and how they chose to risk said life

She didn't breathe for a long stretch of seconds. It was a weakness, a soft, sore point as tender as a bruise, but it wasn't something that was bared very often. Daisy didn't have many people that could be used against her; the big bang had effectively pared away all but a handful of her meaningful relationships. She could count the people that she'd kill for on both hands, and the ones she'd die for on just one. She'd compartmentalized her feelings until they were manageable and safe.
But seeing Nick again made something in her tighten and turn over. Daisy didn't let it register on her impressive pokerface, but the glass in the window of the building next to them rattled briefly in its frame. It was a tiny tremor, larger than shaking hands but not big enough to register far. She finally exhaled.
His eyes glanced over to Daisy briefly, then back forward to Nick, still calm and unemotional. Though it was hard even for him to pull off, he couldn't look anything but his typical apathetic self in this situation. It was what Daisy needed, and Nick would have wanted.
The small tremor went ignored, but Alex was feeling the same on the inside. There were very few men that a god had to respect, trust, and even fear, and Nick Fury was one of those men.
"Nicholas." He didn't sound different from his usual self, but trained eyes would see him standing up just a little bit straighter, shoulders back, wanting to look bigger, stronger than he really was.
