Gwenog sipped her champagne and listened to the piano play itself, relaxing in the conservatory before it became too crowded. It was unusual for her to seek solace, but she knew that she would have her share of socialising ahead of her this evening. For the moment, it could wait.

Alicia was decked out in a frilly, girly, pink dress, a huge smile on her face. She loved parties, and she was excited to potentially see old friends, especially ones she hadn't seen much of lately. And of course, she wanted to see Katie and George, most of all.

Gwen was enjoying the music when a lovely young red-headed thing in a beautiful pink frock walked into the room. She was all smiles and her persona was radiating from within.

"Hello," Gwenog greeted her. "That's a lovely dress. Do you mind if I inquire where you got it?"

"At a little boutique in Muggle London," Alicia said with a smile.

"You look quite lovely as well," she added.

Roger on her arm, Katie paid her respects to both her parents, then led him quickly away, out by the grotto where she was sure that she and what other young people there might be could enjoy themselves without the confines of expensive decor.

Katie took a flute of champagne for herself and one for Roger and leaned in to tell him she hoped Alicia would show up soon and help keep her entertained. It was likely to be a boring night of high society types putting on airs and she took comfort in that one of her best friends would be there to help stir up a little fun.

Athena walked into the Grotto, wearing a beautiful evening dress she'd found in Muggle London, having actually taken time off from working to do something for herself. It felt nice to pamper herself, having gotten her hair and nails done as well. Her hair was in loose curls, framing her face, making her look a bit younger, like she had in school.

She looked over at Charlie, wondering how bored he would be tonight.

Athena looked wonderful and Charlie really didn't mind dressing up on occasion. Especially when the occasion didn't come with his mum trying to muck about with his hair. He'd had a hair cut and shaved, of course, because despite evidence to the contrary, Charlie Weasley did have manners and knew how to dress to impress and how to behave in polite company.

He dipped his head and spoke softly in Attie ear, "I should have brought one of George's Wheezes to spike the punch. Bet it would be a hoot to get everyone out here skinny dipping." He looked at one of the snotty old birds giving his red hair a once over and sticking her nose in the air. "Well, maybe not everyone."

Athena chuckled. "As amusing as that sounds... how about I charm the bathtub into a pool later and we go skinny dipping?" She whispered back, looking about for her mum, nervous she would hear her, no matter how far away she was. That was what mums were good at after all.

"You look dashing, by the way, darling."

Main Foyer/Sitting Room pb_npc2 July 25 2008, 03:38:55 UTC
Elladora Bell was quite taken with herself this evening. She felt like a real adult being invited to such an important event being put on by her grandparents. Her father said she would be able to attend this important and, likely, historic event since she was now old enough to attend Hogwarts in the fall and Ella viewed this as her 'coming-out' of sorts.

Excitedly weaving her way through the crowds, Elladora found herself in the corner of the house which was almost entirely made of glass. She stared up into the cathedral ceiling and marveled at the lights. Not watching entirely where she was going, Ella bumped into someone. She backed away and apologized quickly and politely and hoped that her father wouldn't find her right away. She didn't want to be followed all evening and if he had seen that incident, he likely would tell her she had to go home ( ... )

Theo apparated to the gate at seven sharp, greeting the hostess with as much charm has he could spare. He'd been forced to bring Purple, because the last time he left the bloody thing behind, it had shredded several of his books, and short of stepping on the bugger (too difficult, as it was too ruddy fast), he didn't have much of a choice. She'd made getting dressed quite a chore. Once she was safely stowed in his pocket, he cast a silencing charm and a glamour to keep anyone from noticing when it moved.

He'd made his way through the crowds, greeting where appropriate, and finally found a near-empty corner which he could take in the room. A young girl, nearly Anastasia's age, was watching, and he bit back a smile, knowing that in a few years time she'd be just as jaded as the rest of the kids her age.

Although Percy hated the concept, he arrived fashionably late in the main foyer with Cho on his arm after having to explain to the hostess he was attending in place of Alistair. She was more than amenable once he'd procured the invitation and now that they were inside he had to admit he was impressed ( ... )

The Bells' house was unimaginably gorgeous, and being surrounded by beauty was the perfect remedy for unhappiness. Within moments of arriving, thoughts of the Corps were firmly out of her head; she was resolved to enjoy the evening as if nothing had happened at all, in fact. And it was very easy to forget, with Percy looking the way he did - handsome in a completely unexpected way. Looking at him she was reminded of how he'd seemed to her at Hogwarts: so uptight, but relatable in a strange way. If anyone had told her that this would be happening one day, she would never have believed it - but maybe, in a corner of her mind, she might have wondered. Thoughts like this made her almost nostalgic; more than that, they made her feel good, as if her actions were close to finally meaning something.

Besides, it was difficult to be unhappy in formal dress, even if it was horribly typical of her; she'd elected to wear the silk qipao, teetering in her most expensive shoes. She'd pinned her hair back with a golden comb, and the tightness at her ( ... )
