When Dennis woke that morning, the sky was cloudy and dark, threatening rain, which it did eventually. However, by lunch the sky had cleared and it was sunny only for a few hours before more dark clouds rolled in. Since it hadn't started to rain yet and Dennis hadn't used Bronwyn in ages, he decided to write a quick note to his parents.

As he climbed up into the owlry, he thought about what he was going to write. Remember to tell Mum about what Orla said about her cooking. She'll like that. Ask about the dairy... The list wasn't very long, but he thought Mum and Dad would like it, especially his mum, plus it got Bronwyn out for some time. Smiling when he found his owl, he held out his hand and she flew right to him.

"Hi there, Bronwyn, think you're up for a delivery?" he asked as he stroked her feathers softly. "Yeah?" He pulled a treat from his pocket and gave it to before pulling out a piece of parchment along with a quill and some ink. Scribbling quickly, he wrote a short note. Once it was finished, he told the owl where to take it. Bronwyn nipped at Dennis' finger affectionately before taking the letter it her beak and flying off through one of the windows.

Dear Mum and Dad

How are things at the dairy? Good, I hope. No more dragon sightings? Just teasing. Classes are going well, busy with exams approaching and what have you. Getting a lot of studying in, I promise.

I know the Easter holiday break is coming up and I won't be coming home for it, so I just wanted to let you know I'm sorry I'm going to miss it. Also, I told Orla that I'd tell you she thought you were a great cook, which you are, of course. Orla is good, making sure I keep up with my homework and everything.

There's no real reason for the owl other than Bronwyn looked like she needed to get out for a bit. Hopefully, this will be enough for her until exams are over cause by the time summer comes, she'll be flying to and from Orla's so often people are probably start think Bronwyn belongs to her.

Well, that's all that's new here. Miss you.

Your son,
Dennis
