"Well, that went well, didn't it?" Draco squeezed Hermione's hand as they strolled through the Manor, his attention more on her than on where he was walking. They'd both walked out alive and unharmed, which was better than the most cynical part of him had hoped for, but he was concerned about her nevertheless. Her posture during the introductions, her expressions, the color of her face - it had all given him worries that he'd tried to keep hidden. The last time she'd been in this house, she'd left it tortured. It couldn't bring up any good memories at all. Didn't bring up many good ones for him, these days.
When he looked up and paid attention to his surroundings, he realized they were close to the kitchens. From there, they could duck out into the gardens, head upstairs to his suite, or continue on to find one of the libraries or portrait galleries. Wherever they went, he planned to avoid the main drawing room. She'd seen it. Screamed in it. "You doing all right?" he asked her, coming to a halt so he could look full at her face rather than sideways. "Need a drink or need to sit down? Anything?"
