I have several. My fav are the cloth ones. They have such a lovely *snap* to them...

You left out 'defensive weapon' under the list of an umbrella's uses!
Not that one would need such a thing at Portus... not even to conceal a wand in the handle, oh, no.

I swear, if I go down there and it's *cold*, I"m going to be rather Put Out. Well, maybe I should pack one of my shawls, just in case. Weird weather follows me everywhere.

I'd never have thought about the umbrella; a wide-brimmed seemed enough, but the umbrella is a great idea.
Never having been to a con before, I'm very happy to take advice.
