That is awesome! I am unashamed to say that I am, in fact, a Lady Gaga fan. She's got some really good videos on her official youtube channel.

I thought she was okay until I started reading more about her work and inspiration (she's a Freddie Mercury fan) and stareted to listen for some of those influences.

It's wrong, I know.

Yeah, I wrote her off as just another pop person, but apparently Stefani Germanotta's pretty freaking brilliant and musically gifted, and Lady Gaga is just an Andy Kaufman-esque character she plays. There's a lot of interesting speculation and interpretation going on in this Metafilter thread:

I considered Lady Gaga a guilty pleasure until this last video came out. I think it epitomizes all of her potential as a star and artist. All of it, down to the intentionally cheesy Europop backing, is commentary. And all of it is a mask, revealing practically nothing about the person at the helm. That's a really difficult feat to pull off, because stars tend to be insecure enough to want to be liked and respected as an icon but also as a person
