it's been evident for a while that the majority of america was going to choose a president who reflected their own intelligence. and they elected bush (in place of previous wording). the announcement at school about the winner of the election made my heart sink. i organized a small chorus of 'this is the end...my only friend, the end...' which was ( Read more... )

Ow, I'm hurt. "Smart Republican" isn't necessarily an oxymoron, and people vote for Bush for reasons that have nothing to do with morals. Had I voted, I would have voted for Bush because Republican principles of government match my idea of what government should be.

ha sorry.. of course i wasn't talking about you. but it's true that a lot of the people who voted for bush did so, in this election at least, because of moral issues. and at my school the only reason people had for voting bush was because of the abortion thing. it just really got to me after a while, i guess.

I really really hope that your, or for that matter, my school isn't representative of the rest of the country. The Arlington Diosece is the most rigidly conservative in the entire nation.

And abortion is a plus in Bush's column, but my God, to base your vote on one issue???
