It's all about them vs. us in my opinion. By reinforcing the stereotype that whites are either racist or stupid it takes away from their own(the blacks) inferiority complex. Likely that successful black executive got his job because of affirmative action.

Here are the submission guidelines for PG:

The BIGGEST obstacle is the creation of e-books and then if there is still "living copyright", making absolutely sure that the author is basically willing to give up all money making ventures with their work because PG ebooks are free of charge and free as in freedom.

So, if only white folk are submitting books, then only white folk get represented.

Totally. There are, however, plenty of books out there in the public domain by POC authors, and this is a problem that needs correcting. Because really, your Africa bookshelf MIGHT ought to contain more than a handful of books not written by white dudes about the savages, you know?

The issue is getting someone to put them into ebook format and submit them. All submissions are done by non-staff because the staff is busy running the servers, processing new entries, etc.

An idea would be to get the word out and have more POC willing to spend the hours transcribing a hard copy book to a digital format. Or hunt down e-books and edit them for submission.

Yep, these are mah thoughtses too. Maybe I'll get a post together for ibarw.

After all, it doesn't have to be POC who transcribe POC works. People just have to identify what's in the public domain and get the work done, regardless. Some global interest in this would be nice. I mean, really, no books from Nigeria? One of the most, if not the most, populous countries in Africa? This is ridiculous.

I am plotting and will return with more plots after I finish the other things I have to do today.
