cheap flavored rice

i found this recipe online & as i LOVE those lipton side dishes (the rice & noodle ones) i thought maybe this would be worth a try...

~

4 cups uncooked rice (I always use brown rice)
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 teaspoon garlic powder

You're not saving that much -- the soup packets are almost a dollar apiece, and if you watch the sales on the boxed seasoned rice, you can buy the whole shebang for that price.

There are lots of seasoned rice recipes out there that you can do much more cheaply from scratch.

guess it all depends on where you shop...1.50 for 2 soup packets makes about 6 meals....
sounds like saving to me.

you can also use the seasoning packets that come in ramen noodles, my boyfriend likes to eat the noodles uncook and unseasoned, so we always have extra packets, so that is a really cheap way to make flavored rice.
