take your tin of dice tomatoes, and make up a quick pasta sauce with some basil, parsley, oregano and thyme. cook up your pasta and voila! if you have red pepper flakes, you can make arriabata (sans the other herbs and spice)!

you could mix mayo and some of that tinned tuna for tuna sandwiches.

fried potatoes and eggs. fried egg sammies.

buttered noodles, couscous with veggies (I added italian dressing, if you happen to have that), cut and saute some potatoes with onion, salt and pepper, I was going to say tuna salad, but don't know if you have mayo.

we do have mayo... but no lettuce or cucumber or anything else resembling a salad hehe

Couscous with the veggies in italian dressing sounds great! I do have a bit of italian dressing :)

My tuna salad is pasta shells, green peas, diced onions, diced celery, a can of tuna and mayo (plus s&p). I just made it today, actually! And the couscous + frozen veggies with italian dressing was a college favorite of mine! Enjoy!

looks like you're doing beef tips and noodles tonight to use up those spring onions, some of the beef (half of it? or less. sorry, I don't know what 500g looks like), and some potatoes to make it go further. This might even create leftovers to use another night. Make lots of gravy and you can use way more noodles than beef ( ... )

oh bugger lol I forgot that most of you guys would be American sorry.

500grams is...17.6 ounces. And when I look at it, it's probably a bit less than that.

Oh the tuna casserole with the chip crust sounds yummy thanks!!

And yes I have those spices :) That sounds good too.

Nobody mentioned a pot of chili....you have the ingredients...
Onions, a small amount of beef, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic and a little chili powder and you're in business.

Tuna salad for lunches.

Grilled fish fillets with baked potatoes or a rice dish incorporating veggies.

You can make a killer stroganoff kind of a dish by sauteeing the beef and onions and making a creamy gravy by stirring a bit of flour into the skillet and adding milk and water to achieve the desired consistency....I serve mine over noodles, but rice would work just as well. I usually add mashed potatoes to this meal to stretch it even further.

You could also take some of the beef and slowcook it with some bbq sauce and diced onions and garlic. Once done, shred it up and add the baked beans. Salt, pepper and bbq sauce to taste.

You can do it!!!

I'll second the idea of chili. The beef, both cans of beans, and tomatoes, etc. seems like the best way to stretch that amount of beef. And there will be leftovers. The spring onions can be used in this.

White parts in the cooking phase, green parts as a garnish.

I don't know how you feel about foraging, but you can always makes salads with greens you'll find growing in public places (dandelion, wild arugula, etc.). I just scored a quart of fresh mulberries from a tree on a public way. I realize this isn't everyone's bag, but otherwise some foods just go to waste. cant have that. :)

Thanks for the suggestions.

We don't really have the sort of stuff you mentions growing around the area that I live.
We do have a vege garden on the way.... what a pity I hadn't planted it a month ago!

Merely suggestions. Foraging option vary by area. It's usually easy to figure out what DOES grow in your area.

YMMV
