I'm going to a wedding next weekend with my boyfriend, We are both friends of the Groom, and don't really know the bride. We aren't the most creative people and don't have time to make something unless it's easy, and we're both on the poorish side. What should we get for them, something unique?

how about a theme bucket? you could do a movie theme with a small gift card for a movie rental place, some packs of microwave popcorn and a few movie candies in a cool bowl or bucket (to put the popcorn in later). you could do a romance bucket with chocolates and body lotions and some condoms. you could really come up with variations on this one, whatever strikes you or that you know they'd like. it's pretty cheap but looks fun and appeals to most anyone.

Gift baskets are cheap and easy and you can get creative with them. Do they have a registry set up? Most people register for smaller things, too. Coming from someone who is getting married soon, I'd rather someone get me something off my registry that I'll actually use than something completely random... unless it's a gift card or something. I know that makes me sound snobbish but it's the cold hard truth :)

I always thought the registry was impersonal until I got married and realized DUH the stuff on the registry is what the couple actually wants.

I dreaded the "creative" gifts that would sit around not being used. Fortunately I didn't get many.

If you only have a little money to spend look for something really useful. Some of our smallest gifts (cutting boards, pot holders, measuring spoons, dish towels) are the ones we use the most.

I think the suggestions you've gotten so far are good, but if you gave a bit more information about the couple you might get better suited answers.

Im a big fan of gift baskets, or spending a bit of extra time on presentation. Little things can look good if you put thought into a theme, or add a bit of flair.

Check out etsy.com for really unique gifts, many of which are very affordable. They have both handmade and vintage items. A small housewares item would be unique and if you know their taste well enough, something they would keep forever. They also have photographs and prints. Just a thought if you don't want to put something together yourself.

A wooden lap tray, napkins that match, etc....for a 'breakfast in bed' kit.
