Free fonts - where can you get them?

I am looking to get some free fonts from a site that will not infect my computer with crap.  I am looking for a few specific styles for an image project I am working on (a melty 70s font, for one), so the ability to browse thumbnails easily without having to download or click and click through many pages would be very useful.

I do all of the basic literature at my current job, but since it is a small company, am not afforded much in the way of tools. This is going to be incredibley helpful!
