Joys of being frugal

-> Having someone compliment me on my jeans/sweater/etc and knowing that it only cost $5 (or less, yay tag sales).

-> The satisfaction of eating homemade pizza (so yummy)

-> Knowing that reducing consumption and reusing items is earth friendly.

Here are just a few -- feel free to add more!

-Giving me peace of mind knowing that we have a large savings in case of emergency and my children's college will be paid for.

Discovering that, if you shop and cook carefully, you can eat better and more healthfully than you could if you spent more going out or getting ready-mades.

Mathematically calculating that, by making your own, you spend $0.30-$0.35 on a lovely, home-ground, home-brewed cup of coffee in whatever flavor you like, rather than paying $1.50-$2.50 on it at a cafe.

Appreciating "luxury items" like a new creme brulee set (treated myself last week) more because they're so rare.

Having more money for books.

Cooking for your friends when they're out of money at the end of term, and having them express envy over your mad skillz. Ah, schadenfreude.

I'm proud to say that I had schadenfreude before Avenue Q taught me how.

ohhh i completely agree with the first one. i always shop in this place in my city called Kensington Market where it has a ton of vintage or cheap clothing...i have this one purse that i bought for about $15, and it's sooo pretty and i always feel so great when i have people who own those designer purses compliment me on my purse, and i think, see, you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars for a nice purse.
