I think it happens to everyone. You get to a certain age and it's like "well, i'm getting older, and pretty soon i should have to decide what i should do with myself and where i'm going to end up so now i have to live my life accordint to tomorrow instead of for the moment" It's sad, but if we don't think about that kind of stuff what we fear most, having no meaning or voice or power or money or faith in this world will settle on you like a pile of bricks and before you know it you're in way over your head. and sooner or later, you stop caring about everyone else and think about yourself and only yourself, it's unavoidable, it's the greedy, selfish, competitive atmosphere we live in and it's a shame.
there are exceptions however, such as maybe myself, you brian, people who realize that there is more to life than what everyone else thinks about you and money and honor and glory; you have to swallow your pride sometimes.
