Oh, I really like this. It is so warm. You're got Faith really well - her basic survival view of the world and ability to get by. I like her ability to wonder at herself why she has gone to find Giles and why she cares what happens to him, and her willingness to simply accept that she does.

I also like how you wrote the barkeep - also concerned, but well experienced enough that he wants to be very cautious about what he steps in the middle of. Loved how he moved the glasses away and stepped back - one doesn't mess with Faith!

I'm very much looking forward to when Giles wakes up!

Hey thanks! Glad you enjoyed my rendering of them. I've always respected Faith's ability to live in the moment -- though it has left her with some unpleasant consequences at times -- she's always moving forward.

It reminds me of this quote of Einstein's: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving."

I am really enjoying this. I love how you've got Faith's voice, and her uncharacteristic compulsion to take care of Giles. These two together make one of my favorite pairings, whether they're a pair or not. I can't help but feel that if Faith had gotten a chance to have Giles to herself, she would have appreciated what he had to offer a lot more than others did. And his undivided attention would have been nothing but good in Faith's life.

Anyway, you're gonna kill me with this trickle of chapters. I should know better than to read wip's.

I could nitpick as to how Faith paid for that pint with no currency, but I won't 'cos that would be rude. Especially as I seriously want the next chapter. Will it be up for free for all day? Gimme.

haha! you have an eye for detail. I didn't explain it, but Faith didn't pay for this pint. The bartender gave it to her to replace the one she didn't get to finish in the first chapter (nice guy). How did she pay for that first one though? I figured 1 of 2 possibilities, either the bartender accepted some American cash (hey, it's possible, I can think of a few scenarios where that could happen), or someone bought her a drink (pretty girl, exotic American accent, first time in merry old England, it could happen).

Part 3 is up now too.

Yes, I'll be finishing it. I have the epilogue sketched out already, and I have a scene that's going to play out between the 2 of them, I just haven't fleshed it all out yet, or gotten them to that point. I think maybe 2 or 3 more parts.

This is so wonderfully in character! Faith would totally get weirded out over why she's worrying about someone else, and the first thing she sees when she looks at the apartment would, of course, be all the possible household weapons and escape routes. Her tone is spot-on and I love the way you narrated it, like we're just dropping in on her thoughts as she goes along. Beautiful work!
