In his blackout state, it’s hard to know where he would have ended up that night if Faith hadn’t arrived when she did. London is full of bridges.

Ee. That was a wonderfully subtle, scary moment. Giles' self-destructive is incredibly believable at this point - up until Faith arrived, he really didn't have anyone. Fantastic job at showing how lonely Giles really is.

And of course, as soon as I see the picture, I'm a leaky faucet.

thanks! I'm glad it's believable. I think despair can be a slippery slope, so that's where I saw Giles going.

You are doing such a beautiful job with this. You're descriptions of what's driving these people are so accurate and heartbreaking. Faith, with not trusting herself and not understanding how anyone else could. Her not knowing how to find a place in the world. And Giles, always surrounded but powerful women and feeling like he failed them. And his constant loneliness.

Giles and Faith needed and understood each other in a way no one else could understand. You are making why that is so clear in this story.

Then there's that song. I've never heard it, so I listened to the video. I think if I ever heard Tony sing that as Giles my heart would explode for him. Devastating.

I'm so glad you decided to join us, and I can't wait for more of this.

Thanks so much! I'm so glad I found this group! :) It's been a real joy to write about Joss' characters in this way.

I could imagine Tony as Giles doing a wonderful job with that song. It's very moving, and it felt to me like it would fit him/this character in this situation. I loved the little moments in BtVS when Giles sang, so I couldn't help but want to play with that in these fics.

I think there's probably 2 or 3 more chapters of this one to come. Thanks for reading!

Oh gosh I love that Damien Rice song. Superb choice. Lovely chapter. They're both lost and adrift.

Oh gosh this is the best G/F I've read in ages. Can't wait for more. You make me want to start up the Giles/Faith comm I've secretly thought about.

I love the complexity, how you've obviously put so much thought an concern into this. Of course Robin is looking for a complex Slayer/mother figure. Damn why had I never thought of that?

And finally, lol, she paid the barman in dollars. Was that just for me? ;D

haha... it was partly for you, and partly because I like tying up little loose ends like that. :) But, I probably wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't mentioned it, so thanks! (Actually, it influenced how Faith got from the airport to the bar too: how would she have paid for a cab?)

I'd be into a Giles/Faith community. :) obviously.

thanks for the feedback, glad you a liking this one. It's one of those great writing experiences for me where the characters are calling out for me to write them.

cheers! (and more is coming soon...)

Goodness me, the thought of Giles singing 'The Blower's Daughter' brought tears to my eyes.

Beautiful story, and sad, because of the many regrets they both have. I hope they'll manage to find some solace in each other.

thanks for reading!

It seemed to me the most organic way (my) Giles would have worked through his pain -- in a song. And that one seemed properly lonesome and heart-achy.

And no worries, you can't keep a good slayer or watcher down for long. :)
