I'd never driven in snow until this recent cold snap, and if it hadn't been for Tony giving me advice on what to do, I wouldn't have had the first clue. As it was, I pulled away in second gear whenever possible, and drove slowly and smoothly, using my gears to slow me down instead of the brakes. And so far, it's worked!
I did that once and it was flippin' excellent! We went on an Advanced Driving Day and I learned more about how to drive safely there (whilst messing about on skid pans and screeching round race tracks at speed) than I ever did in my original driving lessons!
ps. don't know if you've been keeping up with the cricket, but you might prefer not to today :-)
currahee is exactly right; high gear, low revs, slow and smooth, resist the urge to floor it and never, ever touch the brakes, using gears to slow you down. Anticipate as much as you can and take the attitude that everybody else on the road is an idiot.

So, much like driving on any other day, then.

It's advisable to do that whenever driving, I find, not just in snow.
