Oh hurrah! What a lovely thing to come home to after a hard day at work. Not much blatant Shassy action in this one, but it was neat to see things from Karen's perspective. Though I have to disagree with her on the whole end-of-your-career naysaying! I'm a native Californian and I KNOW Santa Barbara is more progressive than that. Maybe Karen is just the paranoid type when it comes to such things?

Very very sadly, the police have always been a little more backwards than general population (very much like the military higher ups as well) and the general population is still so divided. Carlton's more 'political' career moves will no longer be a given. I think for Karen it's the difference between knowing Carlton would have her job and wondering if that's going to happen. Also questions of whether his coworkers will think of him differently. I admit I get these perceptions from a more 'east coast' perspective, but I think Lassy would still have problems, even were he in San Francisco ( ... )

Karen wants nothing but the best for him, doesn't mean she's not being a little cold or unromantic though.

As much as I think they would be incredible together you've got to wonder what a random person on the street would make of Shawn/Carlton you know? They don't seem matched when you just look at them.

Sadly cops especially have major issues in the 'being gay on the job' arena, even in California. :(

Carlton isn't going to lose his job, but being gay means he will have a very hard time advancing his career. Although he cannot be discriminated against, a gay chief is a rarity. That was what Karen was concerned about. Thanks for reading!

I haven't been watching Psych much this season, and I definily found the half I did watch not very inspiring. If Psych inspires me again, it's not impossible for me to get back into fic.
