From a conversation with my Dad this morning...

"Be patient. Give him more time to decide, and then do what you have to if he doesn't. He's caught right now between us [meaning him and my mom] and his parents, he's confused. You've come this far, what are a few more months in a lifetime? Wait a little longer. Let's see how he is in May [at my sister's graduation]. I love you babu ( Read more... )

I love crocheting, and i need to learn how to knit. It's just so relaxing.

I can teach you if you'd like. I'm not brilliant, but I know the basics (knit, perl). Maybe we can do a trade--since I want to learn to crochet. Let's make a shopping date sometime soon--there's a fancy knitting/crocheting place near me that's open till 6:30 during the week.

Knitting is lovely for just that reason. It totally trances you out, it's like meditation.

I finished my first sock yesterday...

Wow. A sock, you're my idol. I hear those are really hard. I'm thinking of taking a pricy knitting class at the swank place near me with the rude staff--it's a hat making class and although I don't need a hat (like I need a scarf?) I figured it'd be fun.

Hat's are EASY!!! You don't need a class for that, though I guess it's a good place to find other knitters.

It's my first sock and turns out it doesn't fit right and I have to take out and re-do a bunch of stitches if I want it to fit. And I still haven't started it's partner. :-( Oh well... Sock-knitting is great though, because you spend FOREVER knitting with like $10 worth of yarn. ;-)

Oh and my book suggestion for new knitters: The Yarn Girls Guide to Simple Knits. Though I'd substitute yarns, some of the ones they suggest are pretty pricey.

Oh yeah... and maybe (just maybe) if there's some knitting going on, I could be convinced to go to SG. Or more accurately, convinced to apply for slush fund money...

I could write pages of responses to your posts lately, because I'm going through a remarkably similar relationship collapse at the moment. So let me just say that reading your thoughts on the subject is wonderful. I feel much less alone somehow.

I also find that my old dreams are coming back to me lately. All the things that I gave up when we partnered have started to bubble to the surface. It's a great feeling, although mixed with some pain at what's to come.

Needless to say, I'm thinking of you. Thanks for sharing all this.

Thanks. I'm almost surprised at how my posts have been resonating with folks--I guess everyone has these moments. It is sort of better to hear from people who are going through similar relationship woes, but so many of them share their tales from the "and it didn't work out after all" perspective and it makes me nervous. I read some of your recent entries and I sympathize right back. I'm also trying to find pleasure in the things I like to do alone to try and remind myself that life was good before this and will continue to be so.
