Help on locations?

So, I'm starting the hunt for a location. Sure, it's one thing to say, I want to get married outdoors in a garden in July 2008--it's another thing to actually find a place (that we can afford!). I figure, I'm a crappy web searcher, so I thought I'd ask for some help. If you feel like killing time or making good suggestions, find me someplace ( Read more... )

wow, you're diving right into the planning! i've started trying to figure out a location, but it's hard to know how to look... i guess i should get on the ball since it's less than a year away now. i want a pretty outdoor location that has both facilities and nearby lodging as well as space for camping and no noise restrictions (i.e. will let us throw a rave). i'm not sure if such a place actually exists.

I'm finding it pretty hard to find a place in my price range (cheap) that is outdoors and has decent food. I also pretty much need decent facilities with lodging outdoors. I'm not so much needing the camping and rave-ness. I'm wanting something small and affordable with a big BBQ party at some park for all my friends afterwards.

Winery?

I'm at a significant disadvantage halfway across the country. But I will see what I can find online.

Love too--totally out of my price range. At least the few I looked into.

theknot.com might help. You can localize your searches and get info from other brides in your area. Just watch out for the etiquette chat room. You'll meet some super scary bridezilla beotches there.

I've been resisted joining the knot, but sigh. I just did this AM after your suggestion. The places they offered for outdoor wedding are $$

Thanks for the link. I also wasted a ton of time at work going through 200 listings I came up with for SF, East and North Bays. I got a short list of options and maybe I can get Jeff to call them :)

Wow. Nice wedding. I think they must have spent most of their money on food--WEst Coast Caterers are pricey, but tasty looking. CA fusion cuisine. I don't think my wedding will look as good cause she REALLY worked it. I'm impressed.
