the Doctor was very nice, which is always good, he said that it is most likely that i have endometriosis but the only way to diagnose it is via an endoscopic surgery.  so i said ok.. lets do that.. and now i am on a waiting list.. yay...  we shall see ( Read more... )

Mirena is an IUD. Several of your friends have IUDs, including me. Mine is not a hormonal one, though. My understanding is that with a mirena you will only cycle every few months? Some women swear by them, others have a hard time. OTOH, you're already *having* a hard time, so I'd consider it worth risk were I in your shoes.

I had horrible experiences on Mirena. I got it taken out after 4 months.

What I found:

Horrible mood swings
Bad acne
Weight gain

Also, when it first got inserted I had about 6 weeks of daily bad cramps.

I really didn't like who I was on it.

I'm also in the not-liking camp, but my thought is that if she's *already* having a really unpleasant time, the mildly unpleasant side effects of hormonal birth control might be an improvement?
