Hello again, POLYchromatic!

As we announced late last month, in response to the recent changes (and potential future changes) at Livejournal, this post is our official gamewide poll to determine whether POLYchromatic should move from Livejournal to Dreamwidth. It's majority rules on this poll and the results of this poll will determine whether we ( Read more... )

Just a quick question: if LJ release a more user-friendly interface this week, or make noises that it will be released very shortly (I have in my head that they said one would be coming mid Jan, although I'm not sure why) will the results of the poll still stand? March is obviously too long to wait, but a couple of weeks post christmas break feels different to me. Though I know there are people set on leaving or staying come hell or high water, my mind is changeable right now.

The mods were actually talking about that very scenario just today. If it does happen that LJ releases a more user-friendly interface this week or next week or very soon hereafter, we could certainly reconsider moving. Even if we had already moved to Dreamwidth for a few days and a new LJ release then went live, we could still reconsider the move.

As with this move, we would put it to a community vote and discussion and make a decision based on what players think is going to work best (whether reconsidering a move before it has been made or moving back after a code change has been put into place).

Thank you, mods, for getting this poll up ASAP.

P.S. I will never not see that deity as Munch, I'm sorry. Especially since I'm watching Homicide: Life on the Street and he flips tables and yells about his girlfriends.

You are more than welcome. We'll do our best hereafter to keep everyone informed as all this progresses.

P.S.: I don't know, Prof. Dr. Laszlo Jamf might be inclined to flip tables... Yelling about girlfriends--? Not so much...

♥♥♥♥♥ Much love to the poly mod team.

P.S. I think the City would flip upside down suddenly if he started complaining about girlfriends.

If the colours to DW bothers anyone there is a mod for Stylish on both Chrome and Firefox - it makes it look more like LJ.

Just a quick question regarding Dreamwidth and their invite codes. I'd heard that it's possible that they'll be doing away with them entirely, but in the event that they don't, is some sort of system going to be set up for people who can't get invite codes of their own (people new to Dreamwidth who don't know anyone within the game, etc.)?

Yes, absolutely! We've been discussing ways that this can be made to work easily. And we have also learned that, as maintainers of an RP community, we can contact the DW owners with requests for a "block" of invite codes (we tell them how many we need or think we need, and they'll supply them for us). Besides that, we can always do a whip-round for any spare codes from either our accounts or if players are willing to volunteer codes. If nothing else, just an email to the mods with a request for a code would be enough.

We will be working to iron out the last of the wrinkles in such a system to make it as easy as possible for anyone to join Poly.
