ROUND UP THE GOODY BAG ~

MONEY FALLING FROM THE SKIES AT THE END OF THE AUG 17 RAIN CURSE DAY.

…yes, we are serious. And yes, the money is here to stay.

Who’s been good? Who’s been bad? Who’s been happy, and who’s been sad? Santa Claus is coming to Pooooooooooolyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Incidentally, he’s also bringing a bag of City Goodies. Introducing, in this post, for your RP and plot-planning pleasure, the following concepts:

~

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

~

[typology]:

Ain’t they cuuuuuuuuuuuute? Note: say yes. And just to drive the pun a bit around the block and straight up home, they’re polychromatic.

These, ladies and gentlemen of the City, will hereon be your coins. For your converting pleasure, we provide the following:

One Orange = price of one cup of coffee.

Red=1/10 of an Orange.
Orange=10 Reds.
Yellow=5 Oranges =5 cups of coffee.
Green=10 Oranges=10 cups of coffee.
Blue=50 Oranges=50 cups of coffee.
Violet = 100 Oranges =100 cups of coffee.
Indigo=500 Oranges = 500 cups of coffee.

While we leave the exact prices of most daily items at player discretion, we would prefer it if prices were kept at a reasonable distance between most extremes. It’s all right to assume rent as 2 Indigos [1000 Oranges/cups of coffee], but it’d be a bit puzzling to see it downed down to 2 Reds.

In the beginning [until citizens can begin establishing a financial system], money will be handed down by deities liberally. Paradise will sadly find itself lost at some point, so don’t get too dependent on their charity! Potential solution? Get your character earning their keep! Either through the practice of a craft, composing mercenary guilds, stealing, bribing, etc - the choices are both endless, and yours.

[aid]: Yes, polychromatic thinks of the children! And no, unlike eljay, it won’t cut down on your pr0n.

To this extent, all children and physically-reflective elderly shall receive free housing and feeding. Additional costs can be covered through good ol’ lying, cheating and stealing, thank you.

As a bottom line: if a character can do something, anything, we expect a job to be assumed, and not stressed over. The money in and of itself is more useful as a plot device, and should not have you concerned over your characters' personal welfare. If you're not comfortable / can't accommodate the job/money situation, please feel free to disregard it completely. A player can choose to have their character discover an abandoned home in which they can live for free (utilities such as electricity and water are free in the City) or they can have an income of secretive "illegal" nature.

TRY ME

~

Ever wanted to drive a particular villain through bureaucratic hell? Missing the good suspense adrenaline from a desperately fought dear-God-bribe-the-jury-first session? Take your opponent to City Court!

[ignoble estate]: yes, there is one. Incidentally, it looks especially little like an actual Court, and the deities exact a distinct pleasure out of having you bide your time with unfriendly ghosts or brighten up whilst awaiting sentence in the designated happy, shiny corner, in between romantic decorations.

[presiding legal system]: whatever works in the world of provenance of at least one of the participants.

[verdict]: we cannot stress this enough: DECIDE IT OOCLY AND IN ADVANCE. And by this we mean: the players of both parties [accuser and accused] should have OOCly settled on the verdict of this trial [and preferably the proof that led to it] before scheduling a trial.

[judge / jury]: any deity will unhappily serve as Judge - in so inclined, feel free to assemble a jury, or substitute deities with a somewhat apt citizen; however, in either of the latter instances, keep in mind that it is still preferable to inform a moderator of the trial verdict in advance; likewise, understand that some members of your jury might be ICly more open to a verdict that doesn’t suit your OOC needs. If you’re adamant on having a jury, try to dance around that, and ask the players of jury!members in advance whether their character can be expected to pronounce him/herself in a particular way.

[legal counsel]: citizens, either find your aids, or represent yourselves. We look forward to the rambling, but mind the “ OBJECTION!!!! “ abuse, as it’s not nearly as commonly accepted an intervention as the Phoenix Wright savy might be inclined to think, and it’s actually often stated very placidly, and -- …anyway.

[responsibilities]: the accuser is responsible for three issues:
  • physically bringing and detaining the accused to and within Court. Insofar as OOC arrangements permit it, we allow for trades made with the deities that’ll oversee this little tidbit.
  • Bringing the proof against the accused, and the specialists to analyse it [likewise, the defender must provide own proof and men for their defence.]
  • Scheduling a trial date: OOCly leaving a note at the Deity Vocemail or contacting a mod; ICly making the declaration of litigation afterwards.

    [sentences]: will also follow OOC arrangements, and can vary from fines and community service to actual prison confinement.

    LIFE BEHIND BARS

    ~

    [jail]: yes, we are now sporting one. If you’re truly desperate for a mental image, go for Bastille sooner than a straw hut. Interior conditions can go from devotedly Spartan to suitably privileged accommodations, as trial sentencing demands it. Please consider your character isolated in a chamber that at no point allows for NPC contact.

    Please be sure to announce the accusing party beforehand whether you intend to have your character break out of prison, be saved, appeal to the Court, or do anything to shorten their enchanting sojourn. For some of the beforehand mentioned criminal outing perspectives, please also contact and reach an agreement with the players of the friendly wardens.

    [wardens]: as with any “government” positions, wardens will be elected via IC voting sessions. Characters can nominate themselves for the office, and other citizens will have the opportunity to elect their chosen one. [Please be sure to not confuse player and character interests, and have your character vote for someone they would consider adequate for the function, for whatever reasons.]

    Voting sessions will last for three days, and be held every two months. An additional two days will be devoted to tie breakers.

    The warden character can name an ICly suitable second, though we request modly consultation before the deed is done. [The naming of a second will require no voting.] If the player of a warden!character wishes to drop them before the rightful termination of their service, they are required to have the warden name a second, who will only occupy the position until the end of initial warden’s term.

    Wardens can bully, wardens can be bribed, and amazingly, wardens can actually do their duty and ward.

    [warden repayment]: what, you mean the great sentiment of a job well done shan’t suffice? Laaaaaaaaame. And yet… for the duration of their service, wardens will receive a monetary compensation of a monthly 4 Indigos.

    CITY HOSPITAL

    ~

    Some of you might recall it - some of you might hate its guts. Please, put that syringe away.

    After horrific Alien Mistreatment and a severe case of Citizen Neglect [TM], the hospital’s been reinstated, under the following premise: unless there are IC doctors catering to it? All is well! How to get doctors and nurses there? Simple enough: please see the City Hospital thread about signing up your character.

    We would prefer it that only characters who are canonically stated to have studies/ability for medicine and/or Healing should register as a doctor [6 Indigos a month] or nurse [4 Indigos a month]. If a character has endeavoured in learning the arts of healing or regular medicine during their City stay, we ask that their period of study should have been long and intensive enough to justify their claim.

    [patients]: can naturally select their own doctor out of the many in City Hospital service. Please be aware, however, that in their majority, mad doctor are under no obligation to truly mend your character, and so please try to reach an OOC agreement with their player before entrusting your character in their hands.
