Not to be persnickety, but polyamory doesn't require everyone to be sleeping with everyone else because there are lots of different ways to structure polyamorous relationships e.g. A&B, C&D, A&C and B&D but without B ever being involved with C, or A with D.
I don't think I was clear as to what I was responding to in that comment; the relationship structure she was describing in the latter half of her comment is polyamory, so that's what I was saying "yes" to. :)
Trying to hammer down the definition(s) of polyamory for the requirements. Bob + Jack + Sue in a relationship at the same time?
Bob + Jack and Bob + Sue in 2 separate relationships that Jack and Sue don't know about? Or that they do?
Bob + Jack, then they break up so it can be Bob + Sue?
Thanks for clarifying. :)
Also, does the relationship have to last for the majority of the story? I'm thinking in terms of doing a story that would lead to its formation or to the destruction of an established relationship.
Bob + Jack + Sue in a relationship at the same time?
Yes.
Bob + Jack and Bob + Sue in 2 separate relationships that Jack and Sue don't know about?
No. That's cheating.
Or that they do?
Yes, as long as everyone involved knows the rules of the relationship(s) and is okay with them.
Bob + Jack, then they break up so it can be Bob + Sue?
No. That's serial monogamy.
Hmm, could you clarify what you mean by that? The relationship doesn't have to start off established (so a story about how Bob and Sue and Jack get together is okay, even if they only get together right at the end), but it should be an important facet of the story.
I think that you actually did answer my final question in terms of a story about a relationship in formation or in flux where the story of that relationship would consume much of the plot.
But if I were doing a story where the relationship was pre-existing, does it need to be the focus of the plot or could it simply exist as a fact of the characters' lives and be woven into the story from that aspect, but not necessarily impact the main plot?
No, I'm sorry. :( I'd love to allow original fiction but I think we'd have a bit more difficulty getting fanmixes and fanart for it in a challenge that's centered on fanfic.
Hey, I love this idea. Threesomes are a big kink of mine, I just love them. So I would like to offer doing some promotional art for this, and I could put together a header and layout, just to make things prettier :D
You're welcome, almost done with a potential layout and header. For the header do you want it to say the Polyamory Big Bang? and have some kind of tagline to it, something like "who needs a love triangle when it can be a love triad?"
Also, the layout is by milou_veronica, I just made the header :D
I think I am going to play in this thing since I seem to have a fascination with Adam/Kris/Katy lol, now for an actual question, are we allowed to be both authors and artists?
(you can use the art for anything, cross posting promotion would most likely bring in a ton of people, try threesome focused comms but read their rules first to make sure its okay. Sorry lol, I run a lot of big bangs :D)
Hahaha Adam/Kris/Katy is kind of my favourite right now, even though I am not usually for Adam/girls in any serious sense. I would love it if you could come play. :)

Yep!
(I'll keep that in mind, thank you. I've been terribly lazy about promoting my own challenge, heh.)
