Fandom is an exasperating place to spend time. I've been doing this for over 30 years and it still brings me BOTH joy AND extreme frustration.

So, despite knowing that you don't NEED it...I'm still offering sympathy, but mostly sympathy for the impasse that is "I want to enjoy this AROUND OTHERS" and the "I cannot enjoy this when others who enjoy it around" with a side of "enjoying it entirely alone is not nearly as pleasant or enjoyable as enjoying it WITH people."

Ugh.

This is totally it. You've completely nailed it here.

And I KNOW it's not all bad, but at the moment that makes it feel like even more of a loss. I have met a number of awesome people who I really only have contact with through Twitter, or less frequently through tumblr and arrrgghhhh.

And writing just makes everything more complicated.

Sympathy appreciated, of course-just wanted to be clear that I am aware that my Brain is DRAMA QUEENING and this was mostly about just getting out some of the cruft.

*hugs* Thank you, my dear!

I hate when fandom does this. It's what the last two seasons of Gilmore Girls was like and it made it so much less fun. I'm not on Twitter at all and had only started dipping my toes into Tumblr a while back but haven't been over there lately. I guess I'll not jump back in yet.

I hear what you're saying about the writing. The fandom is the audience and writing is the way I always processed what was happening on the show, but when the fandom is hateful it's hard to get away from it. I don't know if it helps, but I love reading your stories because they give me new insights into the characters. I hope that you don't get driven away entirely.

There are a lot of fun, lovely wonderful people in both contexts. A lot of this is just me being kind of a broken-brained individual.

But yeah, lately . . . even reviews people write are rife with spoilers or amount to their side of whatever fandom war and it just wears me down completely.

And thank you, YES it is helpful to hear from congenial folks, always. Also Kate's not-amused face in your avatar is helpful!
