I'm thinking he had to have been forced out, but is it possible
that he has found religion and can no longer lead the evil??

We are probably going to get a tea party nut in his place and even worse gridlock. I am kind of sad to see him go.

In a news clip, I saw Ted Cruz practically dancing in happiness over this news,
which has me thinking this might not be so great.

Yeah, all the extreme conservatives were celebrating, because now they can put someone in that won't compromise at all. =(

Like I said over in talkpolitics: when half of your caucus understand how politics works, but the other half is so... cult-like in their mentality so as to view any form of compromise or pragmatism as betrayal and treason, there's just no way to manage that. It's trying to herd cats. Sympathy for Speaker Boehner, but schadenfreude for the GOP who created this monster in the first place.

And a little bit of fear, because while their continual slide over into completely loony-town does alienate the average voter, it still plays tremendously well with the base, the folks who actually show up for mid-terms, meaning that we'll still be seeing more of these jokers in Congress and in Governor's mansions, and that's going to make the job of actually governing the country that much harder.
