Is it your contention that pay gaps between men and women for the same job are always and everywhere due to sexism alone?

Whether or not there is a pay gap is an empirical question. As a moral matter, married heads of households should earn more pay for the same work.

uh... well, I just posted the cartoon. I'm not entirely sure I agree with your last sentence. As a moral matter, everyone should get paid enough to make sure they can provide. Of course take healthcare expenses off the table, and the difference between paying for a three person household and a five person household isn't nearly as large.

I just find it difficult to believe that businessmen are so committed to sexism that they're willing to pay an extra 25% in labor costs just for the sheer joy of maintaining an all-male environment. Most faceless corporations I've dealt with have been true believers in all of that "diversity" and "multiculturalism" claptrap.

Generally, everyone should be paid a living wage commensurate with their state in life. Within that framework, I think "equal pay for equal work" is an immoral idea because it treats both the married father of five and the forty year old spinster as fungible productivity units. They're human beings with differing circumstances employers should take into account.

that's like saying that all these faceless corporations can't be racist. It's a long-standing, societal issue.

This:

says that 50% of americans in private industry are hired by small businesses. Those are the places where, today, women are paid less than men for doing the same job. Yes, large fortune 500 companies are better about this, although Lilly Ledbetter would like a word.
