(OOC: DERP. Fixing typo!)

[Robert isn't sure what to make of the answers he gets in return - especially that last one. And... TV?]1. Perhaps you should make a formal request to whatever passes for government of this place concerning the establishment of a hairdressing salon? Then it would simply be a matter of recruiting capable practitioners. That seems to be more or less how prior businesses here were founded. You would be doing the community a favour if you spearheaded the project, and it is obviously a cause that you support ( ... )

[And okay, he's now just being nosy and forgetting every other thing said. He has relationship problems, this guy had relationship problems, and his were worse. Clearly this was interesting and moreso.]

What happened???

[He somehow turns off the filter for his comment while he's at it.]

[Oh gods. Robert reinstates that filter pretty damn quickly, even if he's a little teary. He's never admitted this kind of thing to anybody before, ever, and even that barely-there narrative embarrasses him and shames him and scares him in ways that are entirely irrational (and thus even more frightening for that reason).]

[Filtered to Poland - 75%]

It... I don't know if there is much else I feel at liberty to say.

Just... the situation... reminded me of the loss. [Why did he even say this much? Why does he want a strange person knowing anything about him?

Perhaps it's because, for once, he feels... Like perhaps people care about him. But he doesn't know if he can trust Poland.]

[Written(Filtered)] Haha sorry. he's a frustrating one. xD; polishrule February 10 2011, 01:42:35 UTC
[This time, Poland keeps the filter up miraculously. And unfortunately, it's not at all because Poland cares and only because he can't mind his own business. Poland's not one for caring about people, actually it's a little sad to say how little he usually does seem to care.

But all he knows is that if his situation reminds him of his break-up, that's not good.]

Oh

[And that's all he says.]

[Robert just feels more cared about in general in Luceti. More than he's felt for the past eight years - since the incident he just mentioned, actually.

He's still afraid, Poland knows more about him now than anybody else in Luceti - and Poland doesn't even know his name.

Maybe that's why it was so easy to tell him.]

I... am not usually the kind of person to admit such things, regardless...

But I hoped that... the same thing would not happen to you.

Please, hold on to people who love you.

[That last thing makes him almost run away because he's starting to notice a pattern in his life that is of him pushing people away.

Or doing something that messes everything up.

It takes him a few moments to say anything, but he does after a while.]

OK

[...awkward. That's all he can think of to say. Obviously, as it's been shown, Poland's not one for being too spectacular with words.]

[There's... mostly awkward silence now, since Robert isn't sure what to say now.

Only that he's aware of having... somehow, impossibly... shared a small part of himself with someone who seemed to be struggling in a lot of the same ways he did.

Could... Could he connect to this person, who seems so different from him? Who seems impulsive and shallow and... well, strange?

It's awhile before he writes the next part.]

I wish you... luck.

Whomever you are.

[If he can connect to Poland, he'd be one of the rare ones to do it.

But he sees a way to make things less awkward and he grabs for it.]

Poland!! Im Poland

[Robert's initially hesitant to share his name in return, but... what the hell. This is still filtered, and... well, to do otherwise just wouldn't be ethical.]

... I am Professor Robert Alexander Hastings.

Youre a teacher Thats why you talk like that!! I get it now

[Don't worry, he'll probably forget everything about this conversation other than the part that had to do with himself.]

Actually, I am an astrobiologist, mainly. One who studies life outside of my planet.

But yes, I suppose that... has something to do with how I speak.

[Robert's sort of weirded out with how easily that awkwardness diffused.

Even if a small part of him is still a little sad over the lingering memories.]

It is anything but boring. One sees the vast spectrum of life in all its many forms... It is an amazing thing. [Robert sighs in reality, a happy sort of sigh.]

I... suppose I don't, but it is difficult for me to converse in any other fashion. The words do not come nearly so easily then.

[Robert's so used to being pretentious that he really does find it hard to do anything else.]

Dude how??? Thinking up big words is totally harder than thinking up small ones!!

... "Weird"? How so? What is strange about the presence of life on other worlds? Is it not theoretically possible in your world?

I suppose it becomes second nature to use words that one becomes accustomed to. Were I to write in your fashion, I would... have to restructure my sentences significantly.

Only America believes in that stuff kinda

Why?? Its really easy to write like me!! If I wrote like you itd be all

[Yes, he's going to copy his writing. His writing becomes a lot more fancy and seems something like out of the 16th century...mostly because this was how he wrote in the 16th century.]

Good evening, today I will be discussing with you about a most important matter concerning the issue of your vocabulary and how it is much more difficult to write in a manner such as this than how I would typically write.

[It actually didn't take him that much longer.]

Ya that was harder
