Noctilucent clouds

I just came in from my balcony. The evening sky is a gorgeous, lambent, pellucid shade of blue with a slight tinge of green in it, just what you'd expect when the Sun, Moon, and Mercury are all in the sign Cancer. And to the north was a host of noctilucent clouds, threads and streamers of glowing, pale cloud swarming the sky to the north and west. I'd never seen them live before, only photos or videos on the Internet.

The sky was alive with them. At extremely high latitudes, catching the light of the Sun beyond the visible western horizon, they seemed like heavenly hosts bringing light to a benighted world. Glorious! Something rare and splendid, at least for me.

Now, if I can only see the Aurora Borealis, live from Seattle, not just in videos . . . I never have. I want to so much . . .

noctilucent clouds, glory, aurorae, beauty
