Gaylee Shelton, 73, said McCullough and his wife were well-known throughout the community. He was a "nice guy" who held a disaster-preparedness seminar for residents after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

"In all my life, I never would have guessed," said Rena Rooney, 88, looking over a copy of a brief news article detailing the charges in Illinois. "It's such a shame. He was so good to us."

Oh, my Lord -- I attended his damned disaster seminar a couple of months ago! He seemed like such a nice guy -- now this.

The general manager of my building is going to shit buffalos and bull elephants over this -- I don't see how she could have known about him, but HUD will try to hold her accountable for his being here and working as a security guard. The truly creepy part -- for her and her husand -- is that they, too, have apartments on my floor, the same floor that McCullough and his wife were living on, where they stay on weekdays (they have a home some distance from here, and they go there on weekends and holidays, to get away from the madness). They're going to be floored when they learn about this!
