Dear liberals: about "birthers"

Apr 27, 2011 12:09

Actually, the question most of us had was why in the world did the White House take such pains to cover up the man's birth-certificate, and ditto his school transcripts and the rest of the paper-trail that follows people through life any more? If there isn't a problem with any of it -- and certainly there doesn't seem to be one with his birth ( Read more... )

"Actually, the question most of us had was why in the world did the White House take such pains to cover up the man's birth-certificate . . ."

But see, that's not a valid question at all. Because they didn't cover it up. Obama's birth certificate was widely circulated over a year ago in response to the original right-wing blog post that questioned it. The question was satisfactorily addressed before it even went viral, long before Faux News picked up the non-story and the term "birther" was coined.

But it went viral anyway, because doubts about Obama's citizenship were never based on facts. They were always based on beliefs. And like religious beliefs, they are invulnerable to truth and reason.

It isn't just his birth certificate. Of which you are well aware. Nice try. It didn't work. Obama is a neurotic idiot, and you can try to dodge that reality all you want, but it will keep sneaking up on you forever.

Great Cthulhu LIVES!!! MuAHahahahah!

No, I'm not "well aware" of any legitimate questions that have been raised about Obama's past. "Nice try."

If that is true, neighbor, then you have done a remarkable job insulating yourself from any chance of hearing those questions: they've been raised (and ignored) from the very start. School (especially collegiate) records, activities supporting his self-proclaimed role as a "community organizer"... where's the evidence? He's made all these claims as to his credentials, yet as soon as anyone asks for verification, they're labeled a "birther". By that standard, I should be Pope - after all, I can claim a life of saintliness and virtue unmatched by any not bodily ascended, and if you're not allowed to question my claims, then it stands.

I love this quote because it turns birther-think back around on the birthers:

Birthers are not American, by my standards. Neither are their subordinates and supporters. They're terrorists spreading slander and disbelief of an extremely immature and uninformed quality for the sole purpose of inhibiting the system from helping those who need it and getting its job done. We shouldn't be occupying the Middle East, we should be occupying these bigots, racists, and imbeciles homes and kicking them out of the corpse of a country that they've left in the wake of their blind stupidity.

Take their homes, kick them out, put the homeless veterans into those homes. Problem solved.

This Marine's in favor!

You make a lousy propagandist. Soviet infiltrators back in the Cold War were far better at this than you'll ever be. Seriously. You really need to start paying attention to what we're actually saying here, and responding to that with facts, figures, and links to sites on the Web that back them up -- blustering this way just won't do, because that's all it really is: blustering. Like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar who, unable to come up with a believable reason for getting into the cookies, throws tantrum after tantrum as an unsuccessful ploy for intimidating his parents out of punishing him, instead of fessing up and taking his punishment with dignity.

I really, really don't give a damn. We have presented you with facts, figures, URLs, and every other damned thing to verify what we've said in response to your comments, and you have ignored it all. Cool. Energy and effort persists only as long as it does any good. This conversation is hereby closed. By me, anyway. Anyone else who wishes to debate you on this or any other post, please go ahead, no problem. But be warned: this individual is absolutely determined to be as tiresome, irrtating, and childish as possible. Is it really worth a debate?
