For some reason I've heard next to nothing today about Wikileaks and the hacker attacks on various industries in retaliation for Julian Assange's arrest and the blockage of funds to Wikileaks by various governments. Articles on them from yesterday and the day before are still accessible, but there's nothing new, nothing published today that I've ( Read more... )

I don't think so. When crimes occur, the police deny the media certain information needed to be kept secret in order not to compromise the investigation. The same is true of news blackouts about trials during their progress, for similar reasons. When the need for that is over, then that information is freely released. Then there have been times when, out of military necessity, information was denied the public in order to keep the enemy from knowing what we were going to do before we planned to do it -- World War 2 was typical, in that respect. Eventually it all came out, after it could no longer have benefited the enemy ( ... )
