You can have more than one egg at a time, depending on how long you leave them in there.

I believe every 250 steps, there's another chance of an egg being produced, the percentenge determined by how much the two Pokemon like each other. So you can keep getting eggs from them until you take them out of the Day Care. ^^

If I recall correctly, it works like this...

Every set number of steps, you have a random chance of whether or not you receive an egg. However, this counter is always running, not just in reference to a particular event ( ... )
