Swap ball type after catching pokemon?

Is there a way to change the type of pokeball a certain pokemon is in without re-catching it? I want the pokemon I use most often in batle (my starter, for example) inside Heal Balls (

I don't think you can. No doubt someone else will correct me if I'm wrong, though, so don't take my word for it.
I think I remember someone saying that the shaking is when the Pokemon is close to leveling up.
