[After two long years of searching the nation to no avail, much to the bewilderment of his fellow collectors, Edmond Flamberge had come home - home being the outskirts of Lavaridge Town in Hoenn. And, in a moment of nostalgia, he had decided to explore Mount Chimney (was that entrance still there?). His brown leather bag was almost bursting at the

And this person is a bit too exuberantly triumphant to miss. Flailing about some bit of insignia, no less. Maxie isn't sure what he thinks about the fact that he's been here long enough to start rolling his eyes at the new people (or long enough to start separating out 'new people' from himself in his mind; has it been that long?) but this person looks...particularly special, so let's see what this is, shall we?]
You might not want to flail that around, you kn -

He has never seen you before in his life, good sir, so how the hell did you - ]
Where did you get that?!
[Yes, he's actually gotten a decent look at that particular emblem. And he's now wondering if he needs to start kicking some grunts into crevasses or something because the kid was bad enough - exactly how many of those things did they lose?!]

And... Edmond has no idea where he just ended up - this suddenly isn't Jagged Pass at all, he's quick enough to realize that - but whatever just happened... This means that his long, sometimes quixotic, sometimes outright painful search is finally over. As soon as his gaze falls on Maxie and he hears his voice, sight and hearing both recognizing him without mistake... The blue-haired count feels tears of the purest joy well up in his eyes.]
... Maxie? You... you're here...
[And where here is doesn't matter at all right now.]
Two years... For two years I've searched the land for you, and... [He stifles a sob.] ... And now you're here again...
Ah, the Emblem... [He tries to contain his extreme emotion enough to form a cogent utterance.] ... I've always had my own copy. Don't you remember?

no no seriously what is this
you're kind of unusual-looking, buddy, and he'd remember you]
What are you -
[Actually...oh, well, hang on. There is more than one iteration of him on this island. Perhaps this person belongs to the other one...?
At the same time, given the general response that he tends to get when he's mistaken for the other, and the fact that from what he gathers his double doesn't seem to have been the most understanding individual, even toward members of Team Magma...somehow he doesn't think that's the case. Of course, it's possible that other iterations of him exist somewhere as well, isn't it?
...So this is just confusing, then. Lovely.]
I believe there's been a misunderstanding - I don't know you.

How in the heck did you get a hold of that thing you are waving around?
[Have a confused and irritated commander pointing and shouting at you from a bit of a distance.]
Reply
It's mine, young man. It was issued to me. I am Edmond Flamberge, a fervent partisan of Team Magma.

He's not really sure he believes you.]
Never heard of you before, so you must not be too important. How come I've never seen you around..?

[Ah, the straightforward, down-to-earth type! ... Is this the kind of man Maxie likes?]
You're... Tabitha, correct?

Circumstances being what they are, Maxie doesn't recognize that...particular item that this individual is waving around. At the same time, he's gotten decent at remaining out of sight while satisfying his curiosity; this one was a bit too odd to not watch, and when he finally gets a good look at the insignia emblazoned across that emblem...
Well.
He's actually got his own on today, the symbol embroidered across the asymmetrical black patterning on that jacket of his; he's taken to wearing it for now, if for no better reason than the seasons are beginning to shift and the winds are unpredictable in this place. He hadn't intended to really greet anyone out here, anyway. This person simply happened to be both a fluke and too good to pass up.]
How unexpected.
[He's smirking as he approaches; though his tone isn't mocking, he's clearly very, very amused.]

... MAXIE! You-
[... Yes. You. Are you even Maxie? Because between the hair, the eyes and the somewhat... unsettling expression you're wearing, Edmond isn't sure. He takes a couple steps in... this man's direction while his sudden joy vanishes as quickly as it came, to be replaced by... complete confusion in Edmond's widened eyes, fixed on this red-haired man that somehow looks so familiar and yet doesn't.]
... What happened to you?
[The words are said in a weak, almost breathless tone. In fact, as the realization hits him that something horrible must have happened to his favorite person in the whole world, Edmond feels his legs grow weak and he falls to his knees on the ground, still looking up helplessly in bewilderment.]

This can be worked with.]
A few bad run-ins, here and there. Nothing that I couldn't survive.
[Of course, as far as he's concerned, he didn't survive them, but. Technicalities.
And here's where it gets difficult; he doesn't know this person, or what he'll be expected to know, but if he slips then he'll find ways to cover it, he's sure. Let's just see what this person knows...]
Still loyal to Team Magma, I see. [He gestures lightly toward that emblem.] You seemed so pleased to find it.

[His hand is trembling as he brings up the Magma Emblem to look at it once more.]
It's... one of the few things that has helped me remember you at all times. It's been two long years... And you...
[Tears suddenly rush to his eyes and a sob shakes him... Just what is it about Maxie that just... just isn't right?]
... You've changed so much...

...Pray tell, what is that? [Pointing to the Emblem. What is Team Magma, derp.]
Reply
Ah... It's nothing, child.
[At that, he hides the Emblem. You saw nothing! Nothing at all!]
... Would you like a Lava Cookie? My farmers just made them this morning.
[THERE! DISTRACTION!]
Reply
That would be quite nice, sir~! [Personality shift, go! Cookie's sound very nice right about now.]

Here you go, child.
[Remember that Magma Emblem now? No you don't, of course, because you never saw it! Right?]

[... Edmond's cookies! D: Angered, Edmond draws his sword and sends his Zangoose after the Crobat. The mongoose-like Pokémon is quick and agile, and his trainer runs immediately after him. Seriously, what was that for? ... And of course, Edmond has no idea what his new surroundings are. But in his world - by which I mean not just the world he comes from, but the somewhat secluded world Edmond has grown up in - the coming of a Crobat is definitely a good sign. And thus, he and Zangoose are going to closely dog the bat-like Pokémon's flight.]

Terbish, what did I tell you about stealing? Good lord, this is just getting sad. Give the poor man his food back before you give him a heart attack.
[If he sounds bored, that's because his Crobat pulls this pretty much constantly.]

... Are you alright, young man?
[Edmond observes him, trying to determine just how hungry he is.]
