It's hard to be indifferent and just look the other way

[With a few exceptions, Charon hasn't left his home for several weeks, primarily for reasons he would much rather forget. Whatever the cause, he is out with Rotom now, and seems to be in the process of... training?]

Thunderbolt, at your highest possible voltage.

[Rotom fires a bolt of electricity at a nearby tree, reducing it to splinters. The ghost slumps forward immediately afterwards, panting heavily. Given this and the fact that there's several other splintered trees in the area, it's pretty clear that this activity has been going on for some time.]

And again. Do not lessen your output.

[At the command, Rotom turns to face the scientist and gives a weary whine. Charon's glare does nothing to suggest that he is sympathetic to Rotom's exhausted state, though his voice is slightly more forgiving.]

... if we are to be certain that this new technique will be of any use, then a set-up in which the effect will be plainly visible is absolutely necessary. The opportunity draws close, Rotom. Now, cease your complaints.

[With a submissive trill, Rotom musters up the strength to fire off another Thunderbolt. It doesn't seem to be paying much attention to its aim, however, because this Thunderbolt is heading right towards you!]
