[Edmond is sitting in the CMA, with his Gallade and Zangoose on either side of him. He hums a little, apparently he's busy with something... Oh, he's making little red crochet hearts? It looks like somebody is getting an early start on preparations for St Valentine's Day ( Read more... )

[Maxie is walking with his Pokemon, talking cheerfully out loud to it as he does when planning. He doesn't even notice Edmond or his impending horror for a moment.] I think the red glasses have a longer range of effectiveness but they strain my eyes, we should stick to blue - oh, hi Edmond.

[He nods.]

It's useless to continue searching in the snow. Some of the Berry bushes may be covered, and the ones that are not... well, their Berries are probably damaged. Besides, it's bad for your eyes, like you said.

We should return home, Maxie.

You're probably right. Still, I had to get out of the house. I can't stand sitting around doing nothing. I feel useless.

You're not doing nothing! You're resting. It means you will have much more energy to resume fighting for your cause when you return to your home world.

[He places both of his hands on Maxie's shoulders, looking him in the eyes, unafraid of the strange color or lack of focus.]

I should be training, not resting. If I make my Pokemon stronger I'll have a better chance at winning. I can't afford to lounge around with the world at stake. [He looks directly back at him, as focused as his damage will allow.] Edmond, Team Sky... Team Sky has one of my brothers. I have to get him out. I have to be strong enough to get to him or....

Well, you can't train in the snow. Nothing grows in the snow. Even wild Pokémon remain inside their lairs and hope they've stocked enough food. And if the ever-working Mother Nature takes a moment to rest when all is covered in white...

[He leans in, placing a kiss on Maxie's cheek.]

... so should you, her vassal.

[He sighs heavily.] Fine. I suppose there's no talking you out of this position. At least my poor Milotic got a walk for the day. She's restless, but I can't let her out of her Poke Ball with your Zangoose hanging around. He's not too fond of her.

He is not.

[Edmond admits that simply, smiling. Seriously, of all the Pokémon that there are, Maxie had to have one that was both a Water type and snake-like... He looks briefly at his Zangoose and Gallade, and sees them collect his crochet stuff, placing it into his bag.]

Let's go, beautiful. We'll roast Chesto Berries over the fireplace.

Stop calling me beautiful. And we should roast some Pecha Berries for my Staryu. It will love you forever after that.

Ah... certainly.

[He takes Maxie's hand and begins leading him towards the house.]

You are beautiful, though, Maxie.

[Maxie blushes and shakes his head, sighing even as he grips Edmond's hand gently.] My brothers are better looking, trust me. I'm alright, I suppose, but they're the beautiful ones.

To me, Maxie, you are the most beautiful of creatures.

[He's not looking at Maxie, instead looking ahead as he smiles.]

Whenever I look at you... I see the true might and generosity of the universe. You are all the beauty on Earth, encompassed into one being. And if I ever visit your world, I will drench the land in the blood of those who have dared hurt so fair a creature.

[... Something about that last statement is probably anticlimatic. Not to Edmond, however.]

No, you will not. No murder is ever going to be committed in my name. Edmond, do you realize what you're saying? Hasn't there been enough violence already?

[Why do conversations with Edmond keep taking a turn into creepiness?]

[He sighs.]

The people who hurt you must pay. Besides, what you have told me sounds like they will come after you, your family and your friends if they are not killed first.

[Once they're at the door, Edmond does the whole Magma Emblem routine. The door opens as a result.]

Violence begets violence. It'll only make the families of the Team Sky members angry, and then their neighbors, and then we'll end up in an all out war. What Hoenn needs is peace and for that someone has to be willing to extend the hand of forgiveness. I am. People can be redeemed, Edmond. People can change if you don't shoot them before they have the chance to.

[Maxie's voice is very firm and just a touch pissed off. This is not the first time he's heard this idea advocated for, but it's not something he's going to consider. Ever. He walks in, shaking his head and reaching up to rub at his eyes under his glasses.]

[He doesn't quite notice the parallel, but Edmond shakes his head, too, as he walks away from Maxie into the living room.]

Whatever your thoughts are on the matter, Maxie... You must be avenged. If not by me, then by someone else.

[He gets a wool blanket from a couch in the living room and walks back to Maxie. He drapes it over the redhead's shoulders.]

Isn't Groudon angry that they hurt you?
