[The lake is quiet today - several months since it arrived, actually, and there's no sign of it fading. The Ferris wheel, too, is still present; N's interest in this area, if anywhere, is usually drawn there. But it's the middle of March, and the days are getting warmer; he sees no harm in exploring the rest of the area ( Read more... )

[...Chermaine's reaction to these shenanigans is something along the lines of "that one fairly tolerable person is a bit off, now isn't that just my luck".

Seriously what is so fascinating about this...this. This is a toy for children.

There goes my plan to train Buizel here today.]

...What are you doing?

[...Ah.]

Chermaine, wasn't it?

[He doesn't seem ashamed of what he's doing, nor is he embarrassed by it at all; he'll offer her a smile in greeting before returning to what he was doing - namely, snapping some sections of the track apart and rebuilding them, changing the pattern they were set in.]

These seem to have just arrived here - I don't see why I shouldn't use them.

[blink]

They're...toys.

[Doesn't your dignity hurt? I find this difficult to comprehend.]

I know what they are; why shouldn't I appreciate what the island has given me?

[Lugia is new, and today he's decided that he's going to explore the island by flying a little closer to the ground than usual, provided he doesn't meet any ill-intentioned people. After meeting Wally, he just can't wait to meet more humans. Maybe, just maybe there are others who will understand...

... as for Lugia, in all his wisdom, he still isn't sure he can understand them. Hello, giant metal wheel that Lugia almost flies right into. What the hell does this... thing exist for? Humans do really odd things sometimes... and that young man on the grass is just another example. Lugia was still under the impression that people this man's age usually worked or otherwise made themselves useful... Maybe he's on a break?

In any case, giant ocean flying beasts aren't exactly hard to miss, and Lugia knows that this person will notice him eventually.]

[Yes. Yes he will and hello there I am a manchild and what's this

N will just be standing up, if you don't mind; his thoughts are working quickly, he knows what this is, as the Legendary Pokemon of other regions are something he's studied, if only briefly. He's had to work toward memorizing quite a few species since his arrival here, however, and while the library has helped, sometimes names still take a little while to come to mind - ]

...Lugia?

[It sounds right; though he's saying it more to himself, it's still more or less audible.]

[Ah... So the human has noticed him, and he knows his name, too... Except he doesn't seem very... pleased, perhaps. And, according to Lugia, he has every right to feel that way. Lugia now believes that his company isn't wanted, so he faces away from the human, preparing to fly off.]

[Not displeased, just startled. Why on earth would he be displeased - ]

Wait. Please, just wait, if you will.

[Watching you play from behind some random tree. Touko smiles a little; she thinks it's kind of cute.

Meanwhile, there's a Feraligatr behind you that wants to play~]

[Feraligatr's presence is something N senses after a while, as opposed to anything he really sees or hears - he's a bit too into those trains for that. However, as soon as he does become aware, he turns - the gesture is sharp at first, though he quickly relaxes. The sight of a pokemon and not another human is always a welcome thing, while humans are often a bit hit or miss.]

Well, hello there.

[The Feraligatr smiles. It isn't one of those intimidating "Imma eat you now 'k" smiles but a friendly smile.]

Hi! What's that you're playing with? [Pointing at the train set; he's never seen a train before.]

[Things like this are why N generally believes that when humans find certain species of pokemon intimidating, it's usually their own fault - perhaps in very rare instances there was a misunderstanding, but generally, if you treat others with respect and kindness...]

It's a train set - a toy designed to look like somethings humans are familiar with. The point is to rearrange the track however you want - [gesturing at that track now] - and then setting the train on it... [where'd it go it's around here somewhere oh yeah just let him reach over and get that -

And he'll just be setting the train down on it and letting it go and this is the most entertaining thing in the world]

Do you see?

[Now that it's a little warmer, Touya is out exploring the island again with his current companions, his Whimsicott, Eri, and his newly acquired Snorunt. When she spots him, Eri makes a bee-line for N. He's one of the few people that she had ever felt really comfortable around.]

N! N! Hey N!

[Touya watches in amusement with the Snorunt in his arms, both at Eri and at N's actions.]

[N doesn't take notice of the Trainer right away, his attention given instead to the source of the greeting. It isn't the first time N's been greeted by Pokemon he doesn't recognize; he smiles anyway, of course, because meeting new friends is just as nice, even if it is confusing for a while initially.]

Ah, hello there - though unfortunately, I don't think we've met.

Oh... oh yeah, that weird island thing.

[She looks a little glum at first before perking right back up]

That's okay! You're still N right? And N is very very nice! Hehe, I'm Eri~

[Touya's making his way slowly over, but he knows how N is and doesn't want to interrupt him talking with Eri.]

[That's very considerate of you, Touya - while he'll notice if a certain degree of closeness is reached, for now, N's attention is entirely focused on Eri.]

I'm still N, yes - and it's very nice of you to say that. It's good that I have the chance to speak to you, Eri.

[...kitties.

N sits back on his heels for a moment, watching the Pokemon from where he is; had it been a human interrupting him, he might have been displeased, but this? This is kind of awesome. And it's...admittedly entertaining.]

Chen, Chen! Look! Look at what I found!

That's nice, Loki, but toy trains aren't edible.

Edible?

You can't eat them.

Unfortunately, Chen has a point.
