493 PROJECT: THE LETTER A

Right after the release of Red and Blue, my preteen self sat down and drew (copied) every single Pokemon from the strategy guide. Since then, I've always wanted to draw every Pokemon again. thanks so much! draw them alphabetically, or even reverse alphabetical! it will keep you shifting your style for sure!

this is also an exercise in making myself draw pokemon I don't particularly care for (like altaria), and it's succeeded in making me like a few already! arceus' background is actually based on buddist paintings of avalokitesvara, who has 1000 arms like arceus is said to. it was kind of a stretch, but it worked out in the end, haha

Holy crap amazing, all of it. *__* I especially love your take on Ampharos, making the evolution line make sense. Articuno and Armaldo are total badasses too. :D

I'm quite looking forward to the Qs as Quilava's my favorite Pokemon, but until then I'll just kick back and enjoy all the others as they come out. :D

thanks so much! it wouldn't make sense to change ampharos after all that sheepiness earlier in the line! I've seen very few renditions of him that really suggest sheep, somehow!

Q is so far away, ahh~ but at least cyndaquil is soon?

doing them by request would be boring for me... since people would request the popular and uninteresting monsters, all the cats, dogs and dragons. I would probably lose my drive way before 300, though, so major kudos to you!

*dies* That Arceus is incredible. And Arbok! I love the scenarios you drew them in- Arbok terrorizing the kid, Azuril lookin' nervous as someone picks it up, Articuno a-huntin'. (I adore Articuno, and I love how you drew it as a raptor rather than the graceful-pretty-bird which, while beautiful and awesome and love-worthy, has been done so many times already...) The fact that you took care with the backgrounds and the poses makes it seem much more than a whole bunch of mass-produced Pokepics...
Anywho, awesome work! *patiently waits for M*

thanks! articuno is meant to be a little open ended, though I wasn't really going for raptor (or else it'd have wicked claws), but one way or another it was wounded!

but man, imagine looking for bugs in the tall grass and a snake pops out at you!
