I just got a wisdom tooth pulled on Monday. I had my other two pulled years ago and it was such a relief then. This one has caused me nothing since trouble though. When you do get them pulled, try everything you can to not get dry socket. I have it now and it is so bad, I would rather deal with my painful wisdom tooth a bit longer (and my tooth also caused me problems too, sometimes severe pain, but dry socket sucks).
I'm afraid of the dry socket thing. I've heard about it before, my mom has told me her horror stories about it. Even a story where she wasn't completed sedated and they kept going anyways. I'm a little nervous.
I had the dentist try to pull when I wasn't completely sedated either, but once he heard me say "ow", he stopped and gave me more painkillers and it was fine. It didn't hurt bad because he didn't do much, but I could tell if he continued it would! The first time, it went so smoothly though. I was never fully sedated actually, just locally, and it still went to easily, I had not realized he pulled the tooth until I felt the blood and saw the tooth, I thought h ws just looking in my mouth.
I also only got dry socket once out of these 3 times, and I can only blame myself now that I did research. It is more then just not drinking from a straw, be careful sipping too. Also, I had a slight infection when I got it done and that raises the chances. I also have not had regular cleanings lately and that can also cause it.
