I had a lovely, relaxing weekend. If I could have weekends like this all the time, goodness knows what I could get accomplished.

I like my bamboo hook but mostly I use Susan Bates. I'd love a complete wooden set someday.

1) Have you discovered wine.woot.com? Truly one of the greatest wine-lover bargain sites ever!
2) If you've developed a taste for Rieslings, you might want to consider a trip to upstate New York. No really... there are TONS of wineries up in the Finger Lakes region, some with some very tasty (and cheap) whites. And the B&B rates are quite affordable. Delta and Continental offer weekend getaway rates quite often, so it might be worth a quick trip...

Places like wine.woot.com, sadly, only work if you live in a state to which they can actually ship. :(
I've heard that there are some decent wineries up Nawth. As for Riesling, it depends. Most German Rieslings that I've had have been too sweet for my taste. I prefer drier Rieslings, like the ones produced in Alsace.
You got a favorite?

Some of the Finger Lakes wines can be much too sweet. Like you, I prefer a drier Riesling - and thankfully, many wineries offer those. Fulkerson makes a very tasty one. We bought a couple bottles our first trip, then made sure to buy a case on our next. My favorite of the white wines from the region is a Vidal Blanc from Atwater Estates. It's a semi-dry white varietal, but very very good. (Bought three cases.) We've only found one good source of red wines up there - Thirsty Owl. It doesn't compete with some of the California reds, but it's several classes above anything else in the area.
