Joss Whedon is a funny, funny man

From Whedonesque:
All right, now I have to jump in and set the record straight. EW is a fine rag, but they do take things out of context. Obviously when I said I had 'closure', what I meant was "I hate Serenity, I hated Firefly, I think my fans are stupid and Nathan Fillion smells like turnips." Yes. And yes. And did I mention yes? By the way, that "yes," means "For the love of tiny kittens, see Firefly first." :)

I just finished watching all the special features on the DVD. It's well worth it's weight in gold, but what made me so happy is that it features the introduction from the advanced screening. It was our St. Crispin's speech. And listening to that again makes me proud to say I'm a browncoat.

The DVD rocks. It has an easter egg that has the complete Fruity Oaty Bars commercial, it has the introduction to the sneak previews, and Joss' running commentary over the film is some of the best I've ever listened to ... he points out *all* of the flaws in the film, something very few directors are honest (naive?) enough to do.

Oh, and I should have mentioned, two deleted scenes that should have made a director's cut: the establishment scene for Inara (defines who she is, what she does for a living, and the general nature of her history with Mal in about 90 seconds) and an extended coda with the Operative in which Mal calls him a whiner as he walks off. The movie could have afforded the extra two minutes.
