PSA: Canadians: Check your voting card

As in, make sure you got one. Each elector should have a Voter Information Card, which shows you've been registered to vote in the upcoming federal election. Because the voter lists are now compiled by government sources (such as driver's licence and health card), there are no more enumerators for Canadian elections1. FYI: You don't need your voter's card to vote. You just need to bring photo ID with your current address on it when you go to your polling station. The card is most useful in that it tells you where your polling station is, but if you already know, then the card really isn't needed.

Truth, but the process of making sure you're on the list - comforting to an old lady like me - is the same as the one to get the card, so why not? :)

Well, I faxed all my paperwork in, since I have now been obliged to declare Plas Dunsmuir as my principal residence (choose which one of four?? questions? questions?) for USDHS, RevCan and now Elections Canada. Will vote absentee at the consulate, since I will be away most of October.

Anyway, choosing who to vote for will not be hard: I signed the papers for our NDP incumbent, who is a solid parliamentarian being wildly outspent by the Harperites, who are shielding their candidate from ALL press contact. Gah.

Actually TTY operators are still in existence. I did that job for two and a half years.
