So, last night greeneyes73180 was talking about how she wishes she could watch horror movies with me and listen to me yammer about them. Because, I don't know, she was hit on the head or something. But I took it and ran with it and now I'm writing a syllabus for her and I thought I would open it up to the rest of you to see if this is an idea with broader ( Read more... )

I didn't choose a particular category because I'm interested in whatever it is that you want to talk about! I always find people discussing the theory of horror to be interesting, but since I have really only watched a handful of them ever/feel pretty uninformed about them, it's all very abstract to me. So this is definitely a cool idea!

Random comments... I am happy to clutter up your LJ if you're willing to let it be cluttered. You already win for posting the most regularly of all the fandom slackers who've mostly moved to AO3 or gotten lives or something ( ... )

Ok mostly I'm partially doing this because I know how excited I would be if someone was like, "Hey, Sarah, teach me about that thing you love" and meant it. But I also really like to have really solid knowledge bases about various things (specifically types of movies and music), and I would be DAFT not to take advantage of your braaaaaiiiinsss.

I really am into the canon of classics, as it were, and I like demons/ghosts/psychological thrillers. I'm not one for torture porn, and a lot of Japanese horror freaks me out (just the discussion of The Audition in a countdown of scary moments disturbed me to an intense degree). But I will pretty much watch whatever, especially if it's vouched for/has redeemable qualities.

TEACH ME FOR I AM READY TO LEARN.

I love the idea of this and I would totally read any discussions and participate for the movies I've seen, but I can't watch horror movies by myself and sometimes at all, because NIGHTMARES. Like, I don't even find them scary while I'm watching half the time, but then I am paralyzed with terror? So I would participate for only part of the syllabus, probably.
