You have excellent taste in music and I would enjoy more of your thoughts. (You've got me on the verge of getting tix to a Dar show, though it of course was announced right when I had resolved to go on a budge.)

I think you would probably like Civil Wars, who are the band/duo Taylor is singing with on "Safe & Sound," though it turns out Taylor did write it.

I'm also dumb about music. LOL, I think it's one of the subjects that I'm more into the "whatever you like, I don't judge". I just have a good ear (I can play whatever song I listen to in my flute xD)

I don't watch TV and I usually listen to dance radio (when I do, maybe once a month?). Mostly I come across new music because I happen to hear it at a bar or at the spinning classes (mostly dance but I love techno/dance anyway)

I can listen to everything besides house music and/or flamenco xD My fave genres are OST, dance/techno, heavy and folk. But I'll listen to almost anything really.

My kid brother (who is an incredible musician, and lately has been describing his style as pop) and I had this whole conversation drunkenly a few weeks ago about pop music and people being judgey about it, and all I remember of it was that at one point we had taco bell and whiskey and he was shouting about how the Beatles were pop music for the '60's, etc, etc, and how the whole point of a good single is to just get people to buy your album, the rest of which can be whatever the fuck you want, really, but if you want to be popular you have to be generally marketable and make your music (or at least that single) accessible to as many people as possible ( ... )

I've been obsessively consuming the Hunger Games soundtrack and I liked both T-Swift songs. (Disclosure: I like T-Swift which is not a cool opinion but I DO WHAT I WANT. I know you're not judging me but I'm just putting it out there.)

I think lyrically "Eyes Open" is so so good and relevant to Katniss's experience. I guess it has more of a pop/rock tone than the rest of the album? But I think it's less jarring than "The Ruler and the Killer."

For me the main things about the Hunger Games soundtrack are:
1) Neko Case gets it SO HARD
2) Then I went to the library and checked out every Carolina Chocolate Drops CD they had. A+++ would check out again.

Oh also "Just a Game" felt to me like a Peeta song about whether or not Katniss was in love with him too or was it... ~just a game~

But also I just went and read the lyrics and there's something about "my bow," so, Katniss. OK WHATEVER it still sounds like Peeta to me. Maybe it's Peeta quoting Katniss in his song. Or maybe Birdy just skimmed the Hunger Games before writing that song. W/e.

Thanks for recommending (and inspiring) that lovely fic!

Are there really not many other fics about crazy-in-love Erik? Really??!! As a newbie in the fandom, I find that... a very odd lack. I mean, Erik is obsessive and intense about everything he does, so of course he's crazy about Charles once he falls for him at all. And, yes, the way he looks at him.
