Oh, I do that too, I leave to each their own, I don't care, I just want to enjoy :D And in the end is a matter of opnions/tastes and I dont feel the need to discuss over opinions/tastes. Like we say in Spain: "opinions are like butts, everyone has one and think it smells better than the others."
So, I just choose, like you, to see the positive things. Not that I enjoy some polite discussion, ofc :) But drama? Hell, no! >.< I ofc I'll not feel guilty over stuff I enjoy!
Also, so far I've not seen deep serious stuff in XMFC fandom, 90% is good, also people I've meet are great, so it's nice too :)
Ah, onday. Monday just before holidays. Gah! It's evening here. Evenings are quiet in IT in a hospital (as oppossite as mornings can be because everything is needed like now). It's not that I don't have stuff to do but I'm getting more and more sleepy... >o<
Exactly! There's enough crap going on in my real life--I don't want to argue and be stressed out in fandom. I just want to have fun and enjoy myself.
And I haven't seen too many issues in XMFC fandom either, at least not from people actually IN the fandom, which helps. It makes it easier for it to be my happy place :)
Oh man, Monday before the holidays is even worse than regular Monday. It's like it purposely feels worse because you can feel how close you are to freedom! I hope you get some coffee and make it through the night!
I agree with all of this; my relationship with stuff that's problematic doesn't end at "well, I found some sexism, time to kick it to the curb." I find stuff like this helps.
....That's it. That's exactly how I feel about fandom right now. I don't want to be made to feel guilty for liking what I like. I just want to squee in peace without anyone telling me I'm not seeing what is blatantly there, and trying to badger me with arguments until I admit I'm wrong. I, too, want to focus on the positive, and be able to squee about things I like. So yeah. I guess two huge thumbs up held very high! And also love. <33333
I'm having the same feelings about meta. And there are maybe certain "texts" that I'm interested in looking at critically but mostly I just want to squee and giggle and ship the pretty people.
I've never understood why some people feel the need to do this. Thye're all "I love this...but this this and this is SO WRONG with it...but I love it!" Or I get the strangest looks when I say I'm a fan of something out of the norm - I'm a Hogan's Heroes fan and I get the strangest looks and endless questions all beginning with why when I say I am. Why am I? Because it's funny even after all this time and watching every episode 17 times - it's still funny! Same with wrestling - why do I watch it? Because it's mostly naked buff men rolling around with eachother, that's why! :)
I agree with you - I just want to watch whatever I want to watch and ship who I want to and the hell with the drama. Fandom is supposed to be fun not drama.
